Students that are not in uniform will not be able to attend classes. Adherence to the dress code is expected from the first day of school to the last. The appearance of the student is the duty of the parent and the student, and must conform to the educational environment and decorum of the school. Any appearance deemed by the school staff to be inappropriate in an educational setting is not allowed.
Students are to be properly attired in the school uniform at all times. Students that receive permission from a scholar to relax their wear within a classroom, during a rehearsal, or at play are responsible for making sure their uniform is in order before transitioning to the next activity. Students who come to school without some part of the uniform are considered to be in violation of the Appearance and Dress Code. If a student violates the “Appearance and Dress Code”, she/he may be removed from class until such time as discrepancy is corrected and the parents may be notified. Disciplinary action will be taken for violation of the Appearance and Dress Code. Parents will be required to bring the appropriate uniform to school for their student or remove the child from school.
Parents and guardians will be asked to come in for a conference and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken if the student continually violates the dress code. Uniform Inspection will be held periodically, announced and unannounced.
The Performance and Mandatory Uniform must be worn on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Uniform Options from Schoolbelles may be worn on Tuesday and Thursday. If a student does not have the authorized Uniform Options they must wear the Performance and Mandatory Uniform.
Braces, garters, shirt-stays, or suspenders may be prescribed as mandatory uniform for children that are unable to adhere to the dress code. (Examples: Suspenders may be prescribed for an individual that is unable to keep the pants or skirt up. Shirt-stays may be prescribed for individuals that are unable to keep their shirts tucked in.)
The student and his/her parent /guardian are reminded of the following:
All Students must wear the Approved School uniform
All students are required to wear the uniform in its entirety from the time thy arrive on school ground in the morning to the time they leave school grounds after school is dismissed
The shirt must be tucked in the pants or skirt and never rolled under.
The school skirt should not be rolled up.
Uniforms must be cleaned, pressed and in good condition at all times. Wearing a ripped, uniform with any torn-out parts or faded color is a violation.
Exceedingly large or baggy shirts and pants are not allowed. Bagging or sagging of the pants may require a student to be removed from class.
Any tattoo must remain covered by the uniform at all times.
Makeup and cosmetic items are not permitted in grades K-5. Excessive make up is not permitted for and student. (Examples: A 5th grader wearing a lip balm that changes the color of the lips or finger nail polish that changes the color of the nail would be removed from class until such time as the make up were removed or the parent came to get them.)
Hair should be neatly groomed and of the person’s natural color; synthetic hair and highlights may be worn if it appears natural and matches the natural hair color. Hair accessories worn in the hair must be red, white, yellow, blue, black, brown, clear, or be a Schoolbelle’s accessory that matches the uniform.
Makeup and cosmetics must be complimentary to the students skin tone.
Young men are not permitted to wear hair extensions nor color their hair.
Jewelry
Lip, nose, eyebrow, and tongue jewelry may not be worn.
Piercings that serve as plugs, expanders, spacers or stretchers may not be worn.
Males may not wear ear rings. Females may only wear one pair of ear rings no bigger than the size of a quarter.
Students may not wear multiple bracelets or necklaces. Necklaces should not be visible.
Analog watches are a requirement for children in Kindergarten through third grade. Watches must remain on at all times.
Students may wear no more than one ring on each hand.
Shoes worn with the Performance and Mandatory Uniform must be simple and plain, solid black shoes with no logos.
No sandals are permitted
No high heels are permitted. (Heels higher than one inch)
Tennis Shoes worn Tuesdays, Thursdays, or during recess, must contain no logos and be solid black or solid white in color.
Footwear need not be purchased from Schoolbelle’s. Suggested vendors that have carried appropriate footwear are: J C Penny’s, Payless, and Wallmart.
Only white t-shirts with no visible logos are permitted.
No character socks are allowed: Stockings/ socks are to be solid in design.
No thigh high stockings are permitted
Undergarments may not be visible through clothing
Black or Navy shorts that do not exceed the skirt in length should be worn under skirts and jumpers.
Female students are permitted to carry purses. Students may also purchase purses from the school shop. Purses from Schoolbelle’s that match the uniform and the school shop are encouraged. Purses will be subject to search.
Students are required to wear the proper attire for dance class. Please check with the dance instructor to ensure that the student wears the proper attire. Initial orders for dance uniforms must be submitted in a timely manner.
Girls are to wear black leotard, black wrap, pink tights, and ballet shoes for every class.
Males are to black dance shorts, The Arts Academy Dance T- Shirt, and black ballet shoes
Inappropriate dress for dance class will not be tolerated and may lead to severe disciplinary action. Students that are not in dance uniform will be referred to the Dean of Students for disciplinary action.
Uniforms Wear may be relaxed by the administration or classroom Scholar with approval from the administration for special occasions, field trips, or travel. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and when authorized by the administration the Uniform Options distributed by Schoolbelles are permitted.
Pique knit shirt with School Monogram may be worn instead of
Pique knit shirts with monogram must be from Schoolbelles.
The knit shirt must be tucked in under the school pants, shorts, skort, or skirt also.
Shorts are only permitted when summer uniform is authorized by the administration.
Short or skirts must come to the knee. (Students’ bodies will be covered from neck to knee.)
Plain black or plain white tennis shoes. (No markings)
Only the navy Schoolbelles slacks may be worn under skirts and jumpers for additional warmth during winter months.
Fieldtrips and Curriculum based Travel
Shoes must be simple/ plain, solid black shoes with no logos. Black sneakers/ tennis shoes or sandals are not permitted.
As a safety measure, (and to insure a structured learning environment,) all students are required to refrain from wearing jewelry and/ or excessive ornaments. Girls may wear one stud earring in the lobe of each ear.
No hats will be permitted in the school buildings during the school day.
